In my continued quest to become all knowing about my H, I now have a newbie gimbal mount question.

I've had the rubber shock absorbers come loose in routine flying. Predominately in situations when flying into the wind and balls to the wall. Fortunately, one end has remained in place most times, however once, one of the front rubbers came loose on both ends and got pushed back and sandwiched between the two plates, so I didn't loose it. So my questions are;

Why aren't all four corners retained? I assume it's for easier breakaway in a crash but wondering if it's something to consider.

Can you buy just the stock rubbers? I've seen them packaged with other gimbal parts but not just the rubbers. I've also found an 8 pack of aftermarket units but they appear to be somewhat longer requiring all four to be changed. Rumor (i.e. reviews) has it that these units stay in place better. To replace all four of the stock units leads me to my last question;

Does the piece with the rail mounts that attaches to the H, come apart from the top section so you can get to the top of the rubbers? If so how?

As always, thank you for your help!

I don't know about the dampeners (what are you DOING to make them come loose!?

Call Yuneec and order an "anti shrapnel" kit. Two corner security is plenty good enough for a camera rig. Not good enough for a racing quad though. The two types of flying, photography and high speed violent maneuvering, are not normally associated with each other.

Thank you. I went on Yuneec's website looking for parts and only found big stuff. I'll call them. I live on the east slope of the Rockies and it's often windy and turbulent. I think I'll look at securing all four corners.

Thanks for the picture on how that comes apart. I live on the eastern slope of the Rockies and it's generally windy and turbulent
Hey there ... new to the site and drones ... H is the first one I have been successful at keeping in the air. Eastern Rockies you say? I am in Eastern CO southwest of Denver. The winds at 9,000' do get pretty radical. My solution to the retaining clips came from an idea I found here in the forums.
Using 4 zip strips to secure only 2 corners. Take out the cheesy clips that came with it and run 1 zip strip through both sides of the gimbal mount and rubber boot ... take another zip strip and cut the head off. Take that free head and run it down the zip strip that is through the hole all the way down into the recessed hole in the gimbal mount. That uses the head of both zip strips to make a better retaining clip that can stand up to these winds. The only pitfall I see to it is the original design is somewhat fragile for a reason. You would much rather have a retaining clip break and your camera take less damage ... as compared to this method that is going keep that camera rigid during an impact and taking most of the damage.
