I just got my Typhoon H 2 weeks ago and everything was fine. I decided to upgrade to the latest software (which went fine) and now my gimble will not react to any of the controls (intermittantly I should say) about 5% of the time it will react to the controls the rest of the time it just sits there and a single beep is heard. I took the camera off and cleaned the contacts and replaced the camera with no joy.

Any suggestions?

thanks

That must of been hanging around somewhere not to have the latest firmware.

If new it should have had the latest software. Prior to upgrading did you check the version numbers? If the H was used this problem may have been pre-existing. Is the problem with the camera or the ST16? Have you checked the controls in the Hardware monitor? These are questions that came to mind and knowing the answers will help in identifying and fixing the problem.

With hindsight it's always worth checking to make sure everything does what it's suppose to do, before anything else, then it helps eliminate pre existing faults.

Create a new model and bind to that model.
If it continues to be a problem then do a factory reset of the ST16.

Thanks for all the suggestions and the help. I did fix the problem. I went back to the YUNEEC web site, downloaded the updates. I formated 2 sd cards and copied the updates to them. Placed one in st16 the other in the camera. I then followerd the video:

I spoke too soon. I went out to fly today and the gimble has stopped working. This is the second time I have updated software, calibrated and tested (gimble). The next day the gimble stops working and just does a single beep.

It appears to me that somehow something is being lost when both units are powered down.

If I go into tablet mode and do a factory data reset from the settings will I get the "original" flight software also? I would like to try and downlevel and see if the new software is the problem or ?

I do believe there's a video on the Yuneec UK site to rollback firmware, if it's causing a problem.

Doing a factory reset will not affect the firmware. If this is under warranty you should exchange it or call Yuneec. This is not normal and shouldn't happen.

Take Steve's advice. He's the Yoda of the forum!

Here is some more information that I do not understand. This AM I decided to go fly. But as a test I turned on the controller then the drone waited till connected and tested gimbal worked just fine. Shut them down and drove 3.2 miles to my site. I turned on the controller then the drone and...

The gimbal would not work. Now I am mad so I said let us do a compass calibration. Nothing on the controller nor the drone said I needed to do it but what the H lets try it. Did the calibration and the gimbal worked. Now...

1. What does compass calibration have anything to do with gimbal?
2. Must I compass calibrate at every new site to get the gimbal to work?

They are not related.
Remove the camera and inspect the 6 slide pins of the bottom of the H. See if any of them appear to be depressed. Sometime the pins will get stuck and need to be lifted with a straight pin to get them to pop back into place.

No amber light flashed when the motors turned on

Yesterday I had the camera off and cleaned and inspected the contacts and all looked OK.

At this point it's hard to know if it's a software or hardware problem. Turn it on and set the camera to rotate slowly. Then jiggle and wiggle the camera to see if it stops functioning. Then tap the bottom of the aircraft near the gimbal. Pick up the H and move it around while the cam is still rotating. (You are checking for a loose connection)

Steve Carr you were dead on. The camera gimbal stop / starts working when I jiggle the unit. Most notably is a landing from 6 inches when the camera gets a bumpy set down. Taking the drone and lifting 4 inches and then setting it down and the camera works.

Now the question is...Is it the connection between the camera and drone? (should I slightly bend the connection prong a little bit to make the higher and tighter fitting?) Or is it internal to the camera?

Thanks for your help
