While using the ST16, does anyone know how to navigate to a predetermined Lat/Long?

During search and rescue missions, it would be handy to be able to just go directly to the mission point

I’m using the Typhoon H for our missions. My goal is to be able to quickly navigate to a lat and long that I may get from another searcher.

Latitude and longitude are in decimal format on the ST16. You can either convert the deg/min/sec format yourself or request the decimal format. Yo can then manually fly the aircraft there.

As others have already said the Typhoon H is not directly capable of flying a mission to known coordinates.

There is a program called UAV Toolbox that will allow you to create a flight plan using the PC version of Data Pilot for the H520 then importing it to UAV Toolbox to create a Curved Csble Cam to fly the mission.

CCC format is simple. If the mission is to only one final point, it is possible to prepare the file in Notepad etc.

He has simpler approach? My proposal is to edit file on-site with ST16. If this will be a solution for him, he can ask someone to prepare a small application only for this individual need.

@wmattp

You can use Google Map to enter the coordinates in deg, min, sec format for lat long in the search panel and then it will display them in decimal format below as seen in this screenshot:

I’m not sure how that relates to me asking how to use the ST16 to navigate the Typhoon to coordinates but thanks for that

What file do I modify? This seems like something that may work

I read wmattp’s question differently. I think the question is how to fly to a location knowing only the coordinates, having no idea where that precise location is. That can’t be done with a Typhoon H. At first blush it can’t be done with the H520 as well. But it can be done. With the H520 you set up a waypoint autonomous flight. Tap on the map to set the Home and Takeoff positions. Now tap anywhere on the map establish a waypoint. On the sidebar that appears on the right side of the screen tap on the 3 bars on “2 Waypoint” box. Tap “Edit position”. Replace the lat/long numbers of the current waypoint with the predetermined coordinates that you want to fly to. Tap the”Set Geographic” box and the waypoint will be repositioned to the predetermined coordinates that you want to fly to. The ability to do this is critical for Search & Rescue missions.
