How do I get my chargers to recognize the higher rate of 15.2 volts for the H plus batteries? I got the proper cable now but I’m assuming my cutoff is always the 4.20 per cell and not the 4.31 the provided charger makes. I’ve successfully flown the plus with standard 480 batteries and my higher capacity GiFi batteries. I did not understand that they created a new LiPo style that is unlike any other until I got this proper cable. I’d sure like to not be stuck with their charger.

Does your charger have separate setting specific to the Lipo HV batteries?

I’ve got two venom and one hi tec. Both seem to determine battery type by selecting proper voltage first. I did find a LiHV parameter just now I did not know existed. I’m running it now.

So it seems that’s what they did rather then increase battery size. I’m not sure how the difference can affect flight. Maybe under higher speed? I fly for filming nature and static scenes mostly so I don’t think using 480 batteries is an issue save shorter flight time.

I don't think it will be... shorter time is the only notation I've seen posted... other than the obvious cost savings.

That’s good because I’ve got a small fortune investing in typhoon batteries. Backwards compatibility with the batteries was definitely a reason I went to the Plus. I love learning something new. Thanks for the help. Now if they could fix their own update process...

Also, the Venom is actually really balancing the battery now. I’m so glad to be off that hunk of plastic they call a charger.

No problem my friend... waiting on more vendors to get the non RS version in stock, as well as Freewell filters. I'll pull the trigger by end of August. I know that TyPilot had to manually initiate the update process.

I finally got the charge leads and a set of filters. Did my first charges with them on the Hitec X2 having brought them to storage level the day before. Time to full charge was 1:14 so about the same as the H battery but this was only at a 3 amp charge. I am having second thoughts on using the regular H batteries mainly for two reasons. First; they are a year and a half old and while still seem to be at about 95% of where they began, I am not sure how much of a draw there is from the Plus under certain conditions? While I tend to be more like @CraigCam in that I will mainly be focused on smoother and slow flying - this brings me to reason two; IF something were to happen would this be cause to deny a claim?

Speaking of filters, I got the Freewell "brightday" set. These look to be quality but I have not had a chance to try them yet but it is a shame that they separate the two most likely-to be-used filters into two different sets. The bright day comes with a CP ND16, 32 and a 64! An ND 64? :eek:So if we ever do a shoot on Venus I guess we are covered there. I am suspecting an 8 and 16 will be what I use most, but we'll see.

You don't actually think they actually did that on purpose do ya?

Should this post not be in the H+ section

I think not. Craig is a more than enthousiastic H-480 pilot with plenty knowledge and experience, a veeerrryyy helpful guy as well. Seems he bought an H+ as well and certainly I myself will be at his lips listening about his experiences with that beast.

I think many of us think about buying an H+ (or C23 cam) like I am, so all info is very welcome!

:)

Typhoon H discussion... it’s still a H regardless of plus. I flew in a storm gust yesterday and I’m beyond impressed with the H plus wind capability. It was strong enough to blow my big construction wheel barrow over. The wind was circular making landing impossible but she held position safely for a very cautious and deliberate hand catch. I was trying to catch some lightning action from quickly building monsoon clouds coming over the mountains.

The stock batteries perform very well under challenging conditions and I think that’s where the LiHV matters. I’m curious to review the footage later to see how much the trees are moving and if I caught a bolt or two. I did a test Anafi full run sunset Friday night and caught this shot so I figured I should give that C23 a go yesterday under similar time and circumstances. The difference in wind already had the Plus chosen. Good thing.

Well technically it's not it's the next model hence why it's the + model but here just saying since the moderators made awhole section for the +

Take it up with them...I made a specific topic in the general discussion and that heading is not 480 only and since it also dealt with standard batteries, it belongs. Also, I came for help about a charger value and that’s also general discussion.
