Just purchased Typhoon H with real sense

Hi Folks,

I just purchased an H and boy am I baffled...I currently own the Q500 4K with the ST10 controller.

With this new one, I can't even get a screen to come up on the ST16, the GUI won't recognize the H well enough to even test the ESC. I purchased this from Fry's Electronics and drove over a hundred miles to get the **** thing...Not to mention the COST of the machine...I am not a happy camper, but this wouldn't be the first time for that!

When I turn on the controller, all that happens, is there is a faint blue light that comes on and that is it, no sound, no graphics, nothing. I have it plugged into a usb for charging, but I don't think it is charging...No way to tell for sure.

The H will turn on, but the GUI is not recognizing it...I am running Windows 10. I followed the instructions to the letter in the manual...Even though I'm not good at that either! LOL

Anyone have any ideas what I can do or try or go or whatever?

I appreciate ANY help you can provide!

never had any luck with frys. strange the controller does not come on at all. how long has the st16 battery been charging. it takes six to 8 hours to fully charge. if you touch the screen while it’s charging but off it will show you the charging status. stupid question but is the battery plugged in on the st16 .

Well, not a stupid question...I had opened the battery compartment to check it before posting and it was connected. But, I thought I would just go ahead and check it again...It was still connected, so I decided to unplug and plug it back in again.....Success!

I still can't seem to get the GUI interface to work though....

OK Now I got the GUI Opened...BUT the IPS and Real Sense show as Not Installed...Any Ideas on that one Folks?

I think I may just need to upgrade the firmware for the H and the St16...I give that a go in the morning...I am burnt out after spending the whole day on this thing! Thanks Again!

i took me a couple of try’s to get the gui to boot up and see the typhoon h. guess something in the usb settings .

glad you are getting things sorted out . it’s a really great aircraft to fly . i had a phatom 3 but this typhoon h blows it away. love the camera controls

Thank Dustoff, I am really looking forward to getting this in the air...I want to give it run through during the Fireworks on the 4th and see what kind of footage I can get with it.

I really want to get both of my drones up during the fireworks...But it is going to be difficult to do that. Unless, I take one up, let it hover and then launch the other one...Hmmm sounds real iffy to me .LOL

Well, I got the ST16 to upgrade FINALLY this morning, but now the ST16 and the H refuse to communicate! Does anyone have a clue? 'cause I sure don't!

I have the upgrade file, TyphoonH_Ver3.04_A.bin copied to the root of the SD Micro card...After I rebooted the H, it made the DCIM, event, MISC folders.

Try making a new model, select that, then rebind.

Also, I don’t recommend the OTA for upgrading. I’ve had much better success using an SD card for firmware updates. This is the video most of us followed when the last update happened.

I did that once before, with no luck , just tried again...No Luck. The problem is I can't bind anything...The camera shows up, but the left hand column is empty....No bird to select!

It’s frustrating at first but gets easier. The main thing is the card must only have the proper file for the update only. Nothing else on card. After firmware update of ST, trash the unzipped filed and then put camera update on card. Be patient.

I am not sure what you mean by this...which card? The one in the ST16 or the one in the H camera?

The only files I have on either card are the update files.

Specifically: ST16_V3.1.30.yuneec on the controller card
TyphoonH_Ver3.04_A.bin When I insert this card into the camera, the other 3 folders are created (DCIM; events; MISC)

When I go to BIND, there are no selections for Aircraft in the ST16 Interface.

Are you saying to reformat the card that I used to update the firmware on ST16? I mean, I'll do it, but I don't see how that could make the H not be recognized....I am so damned confused

Please watch the video. It’s very specific step by step process. You must select a model before binding. There is no need for two cards. The provided card will work but you loose their tutorials and manuals if you just reformat. I recommend using a good class 3 32gig card and there is multiple threads on this topic here if you want to dive deeper on cards. I understand your frustrations. I got “bricked out” during an OTA firmware update first time and had to get a special file from Yuneec to get back basics. Then I did the updates with my card successfully. It’s a very specific step by step process. The ST 16 will recognize the file if it’s on the card in no folder as the only thing.

Also stupid question but you are refreshing first? That’s what places model you select into left column for binding.

I am going to try and get ahold of Yuneec and so, I thought it would be a good idea to check the numbers on their website. When I dialed BOTH numbers...NOTHING happens...No ring, no dial tone, no message, NOTHING! God I am so pissed off right now I can't stand it!

Does anyone know if they actually exist in Corona California? If I can't get this crap straightened out today, I am going to be forced to take it back to Fry's. I am not a wealthy guy and can't take a $1K hit.
