Has anyone found a replacement for the small DC permanent magnet motor in the H920Plus/H920 landing gear actuator? The mechanical drive is interesting but the motor appears to be the weak point in the unit. See attached photos. 8DF2FC03-BBA4-4888-856B-A5F7DB917271.jpegF1D5EC9B-3FD5-4CF7-B6CF-C1E501A84014.jpeg

The internal construction looks similar to the module used on the other Yuneec aircraft. I wonder if the motor is the same???

Good question. That seems possible since the H920 and H480 units have similar width and depth. The H920 unit is much longer. Is there a source for only the H480 actuator motor?
The H920 actuator unit is certainly more difficult to replace than the H480 unit. It requires quite a bit of disassembly and/or internal fishing.
Also curious how the actuator motor is de-powered when the landing gear reaches the full up or down position. There appears to be no up/down limit switches in the actuator. I guess the control module could de-power the motor when the the actuator reaches full up or down and the motor current increases. This design would seem to put a lot of stress on the motor rotor contacts and the gear assembly. Any ideas?

I think that is exactly how it works.
I can post a picture of the motor with some dimensions. I think I have a motor from an actuator that has a bent screw shaft.

Photos and dimensions would be helpful. I may also have issues with the very small reduction gears in the H920Plus actuator. Kind of like working on a small clock.

I can send you this motor with the gear assembly if you think it might fit.

It appears that the H480 and H920 landing gear actuator motor and reduction gear are identical. See attached photo.
This is good news for anyone trying to repair a defective H920 gear actuator. The H920 gear actuators are expensive ( approximately $150 retail) and very difficult to locate. The H480 actuators appear to be available and are much cheaper (less than $50). Also I suspect that most H920 actuator non crash failures are due to motor and/or reduction gear issues.
Once the H920 gear actuator has been removed from the aircraft, replacing the motor/ reduction gear is not too difficult. The job requires a 1.5 mm driver and is similar to small clock repair. I can provide more detailed instructions if anyone would like to perform this repair.
Thanks to Steve Carr for providing the H480 motor/reduction gear to enable this project. 1E647C29-7318-4C32-A8B3-9BD78262BBB1.jpeg

Excellent information. The most common failure on the H480/H520/H Plus landing gear is the yoke which breaks during a crash. So there are lots of broken landing gear actuators available that have usable motors/gear assemblies.
