I believe I met the “Queen” of Karen's yesterday morning.
I just got a 920+.
I got it Saturday night and had about an hour before a real estate job yesterday morning. So, I took it out in the front yard and put it in the air, about 50 feet up. I was checking out stability and battery life before I took it anyplace else, since I could always drop it in my yard, if it went unstable. I have to have to build confidence in one before I use it.

When along came a woman with a small dog. She said to me, “you need to land that thing now”. I said, “why”. She said, “because it's illegal”. Then she said, “I can already have you arrested for child porn. I have a shower in my backyard and my kids are back there showering”. I said she had much more risky things to worry about than me, with all the 2 story houses around here.

I wanted to say, “you let naked kids shower in your back yard, when most of the houses are two stories? Then I need to call child protective services”, but I held my tongue.

She went on and on about how it doesn't make her feel safe and it's icky. Then, how do I know you aren't spying on me?

Trying to diffuse the situation, I asked if she wanted to see what the camera was looking at and she said no. I asked her if she wanted to see that the camera had no USB device in it and she said no.

I don't film in my front yard, except for sunrises, not because there is anything wrong with it. There just isn't anything over here, I want to film right now.

Then she started in on some objects my wife left on the corner for people to pick up.

Luckily, about this time, my batteries were getting low, it was time to land and I needed all my concentration to land this truck for the first time.

A young gentleman with a small dog walked up and picked up the argument with her, where I left off, telling her that no, it wasn't illegal. They started arguing and she wandered off.

I didn't learn anything about the 920+.

I did learn a few rules about Karen's though:

They know all the rules and laws, even though they have to make them up.
They can't accept proof that they are wrong (they won't even look at it).
They expect you have to live your life around their “feelings”, probably because they were allowed to rule their households when they were young.

Made me forget to put the USB card in my real estate drone. Luckily though, I had one in my computer bag for just such an occasion.

So...how'd the real estate job go?
Some folks have all the fun.

I think I would have agreed with her when she said you need to land it now! I would have then lowered my altitude and given her and her dog the wind blown look. The 920 is no midget drone and I think she would have gotten the message to leave you alone. Next time just land and call the police yourself and file harassment charges on her. If she repeats that action do the same again and go for a restraining order to keep her away from your property.

Also, that is not a Karen it is a Siren and just as annoying as the ones on emergency vehicles.

I hope you enjoy the 920+. It's more like driving a truck at first. I have two 920+ and one 920. Wish I had more time to fly. Take care.
