Well the first day of our trek from Michigan to Florida for the winter was completed yesterday. Weather was superb, but the trip to Dayton, OH took 6 1/4 hours when it usually takes 4 1/2 on a leisurely pace. US-23 was down to 1 lane at the interchange with I-96 north of Brighton, MI. It took 1 3/4 hours to travel the 8 mile backup.

Stayed the night with family so my wife’s mom and her sister could have an in person visit. Both are in their upper 80’s and stayed up watching the Mariners and Tigers until 2AM like a couple of teenagers at a sleep over.

Heading out this AM for Raleigh, NC to see our son and his family with a stop at Wytheville, VA for the night. We try to stay to 6 hours or less on the road to make travel easier on my wife’s mom.

Got into Wytheville without a hitch on the road. Beautiful weather again, but the color change is barely starting. Going to be a late peak color change this year.

Thanks for the safe travel wishes.

Got to our home in Florida yesterday! The last few days were a bit hectic. The leg from VA to NC was damp and windy due to the Nor’easter that hit the east coast, but the traffic wasn’t bad. Had a pleasant visit with our son and daughter-in-law for a couple of days then the last two days on the road to Florida.

It will take a few days to unpack and catch up with household chores, but can now relax a bit.
