ST16 battery sloooow charge

I accidentally left the ST16 turned on this afternoon.
After 2 hours recharging, the charge display was the same.
The built-in charge controller was only drawing 200ma from my USB cable.
The 3P 18650's should be able to charge at 2000ma.

Time to crack the case & apply juice!
That knife is dulled to use as a spudger.
That and a mallet does the trick.

After the picture, I set the supply to 3000ma constant current.
I'll set it back in 1 hour.

Lion cells do not perform well if deeply discharged. What voltage are you reading? If it was below about 3 volts per cell the pack is pretty much toast.

I was so focused on cracking the case without shorting anything that I didn't think to measure the voltage.
I assumed the ST16 would shut off if voltage got too low?

After 1 hour I set the supply to constant voltage.
At that point the pack was drawing 2000ma.
30 minutes later it's down to 1000ma.
The cells are cool.

These cells look like the type that have a high watt cut button in the top.

I suspect that the battery will charge quickly. I believe that the ST16 has circuitry that prevents continuous full charging. Probably a safety concern. I addressed this in a thread several weeks ago. I was hoping to get feed back either supporting or disproving my hunch. Here's the thread: ST16 battery charging considerations

Be very careful when re-assembling the case.
The control PCB ground and the battery + bus strap are very close.

I suspect that the battery will charge quickly. I believe that the ST16 has circuitry that prevents continuous full charging. Probably a safety concern. Fascinating. Seems far to many Yuneec Pilots will go to any length to save a buck and risk much in the process. I often wonder if they would take the same risks if those risks could be seen.

That happen to me and i just ordered a new battery from amazon for about $50.00 works just fine now just could not handle the stress of losing my st16

This thing happened to me several time...once , it took abiut 24 hours to reach the complete charging... the shop changed the whole batteries packaging of GCS but without any appreciable results....after few days the battery seemed to me to wake up and at least it took ‘bout 6 hours for a complete charging, using a SKY 100 charger..... anyway, there’s no way to balance neither to know which kind of batteries inside ( i suppose 3 model 18650 type)....

Yes, there are three 18650's in parallel.
I Googled the model number on them.
They are 2400mAh lithium ion.
I have salvaged others like them for use in flashlights & headlights.
My Opus BT-C3100 charges 18650's at up to 1000ma

Ik heb vanmiddag per ongeluk de ST16 aan laten staan.
Na 2 uur opladen was de laadweergave hetzelfde.
De ingebouwde laadcontroller trok slechts 200 mA uit mijn USB-kabel.
De 3P 18650's zouden moeten kunnen opladen op 2000 mA.

Tijd om de zaak te kraken en sap toe te voegen!
Dat mes is bot gemaakt, zodat je het als spudger kunt gebruiken.
Dat en een hamer doen wonderen.

Na de foto heb ik de voeding ingesteld op 3000 mA constante stroom.
Ik zet hem over een uur weer terug.
