I've seen 2 different remotes one with 3 outer antenna's and one with only 2 outside. Is one better then the other I have both. I have also just gotten in my Raptor SR antenna which fits on the one with 3 outer antennas.

They are identical except for the antennas. The two antenna model has the 3rd antenna inside the ST16. You can convert it to a 3 antenna model with a few parts and about an hour of time. Some of the antenna kits include the hardware to do just that. There are a couple of Youtube videos that show the process.

Ok thanks so I'll use the 3 antenna remote and keep the other for a back up

All they do is add an extension to the second pole of the receiver. The second antenna wraps around the inside of the ST. If you buy an upgrade booster like one of the itelite, you get the lead and you have to pop a hole in your ST to mount. The pro version has the TH receiver leads extended through tubes but not actual antenna masts. I’ve installed masts now on all my 480s so they are all “pro” as increasing signal send and receive at the H can never be bad. Conversely, adding the additional exterior antenna to the ST can’t hurt either. I now have enough masts and boosters to make any set up more long range and solid. I enjoy the upgrades one can do on the TH 480 and understanding it’s design by modifying helps gain confidence in your skills.
