I bought one and tried it out. Am I missing something?
All I can do is stand in one place and fly a computer drone around in a field.
That's all. It goes up, flies around, and comes back to land.
Is there more to this?

I'm just wondering what exactly I paid for.

I know.
I bought one as well.
I was sad.

Not so sad any more. It's a good place to test out adjustments on the ST16 before you try them in the real world. When you get really good, you can do some serious tweaks to the H through the ST16 to get better performance based on what you will be using it for.

I do wish it had a pop-out window that showed the ST16 view though.

It's a good way to get used to the controls on the ST10 & 16 for new pilots and practicing flying figure eights and landings. You can adjust the wind speed and turn off the GPS to get used to flying in manual mode.

Obviously my knowledge is quite limited as a first time drone owner.
I'll try some of those changes to see what results I have.
I was a bit disappointed that it did not help me with landing the drone.
I can come in full speed and drop it straight down and it just hovers over the ground perfectly.
I guess I'll find out how true that is today once i finally take mine out for it's maiden flight.

Don’t try coming in full speed and expect to slide in for a landing. That breaks lots of stuff. Follow what the sim does and stop and hover for a moment before landing straight down.

Ha.....yeah, sliding into home plate can only be done once. Getting the grass stains out of the pants can cost a couple hundred bucks in parts.

I wish somehow the camera would be incorporated into it.
Then I could try to fly via first person view.
As for the rest, I find it just as easy to try outside, sans the 19* temps.
