What is wrong with my ST16?

Hello,
I have recently replaced the battery in my ST16, hoping to finally fly my 920+ Tornado bird. Unfortunately, even with the replacement battery, I can’t charge it. I plug it into the charging device, and it shows that the battery is actively charging. However, no matter how many hours it is plugged in, the battery charge remains very low. Not enough to turn it on.
I’m wondering what is the problem. The battery is good, I just replaced it. The cable, maybe? I bought a used drone, and it came without the cable for the remote. I tried many different cables with the same result 🙁
Or maybe I should replace the ST16 itself? Not that I really want to do it, but at this time fixing this device is beyond my capabilities. I am learning slowly but surely, but currently I can fix the hardware, and not so much software.
Need advice from more experienced drone pilots or builders. Thanks in advance!

You can measure the battery voltage directly from the battery connectors to get an idea if this is a controller issue or a bad battery.

Also measure the original battery. The discussion suggests you might actually have two good batteries on hand.

Thank everyone. I’m a newbie, so may you please suggest what equipment I need? A voltmeter, or maybe a device that can measure voltage, amps and resistance?
I have borrowed one of these for repairing my birds, and found it very convenient. Maybe you also could advise me about the particular model.
