Fined in Canada for flying a drone near a forest fire

I just read a report on a idiot fined for flying a drone close to a forest fire this summer. JASPER, ALTA. – A man who flew a drone near a wildfire in Jasper National Park has received a $10,000 fine. Judge Jeffrey Champion doled out the penalty to Rajwinder Singh under the Canada National...

Idiot playing games with police helicopter.

Throw the book at him. If they make an example of people like this, that might cut down on the idiots.

    FAA Numbers

We have to apply registration numbers here in Canada as well. I used my Brother labeller with a 12 mm tape. I then used wide packing tape to cover it. Easy to remove but stays in place.

It's about July and I haven't got the H up at all this year! :-(

I am an insomniac, isn't everyone?

    Seriously Impressed with My H.

That would be a good idea if we could find one that passed air freely but inhibited the movement of moisture. They have coats and hats that do this, why not tape?

Today's temperature was 24C, so I felt comfortable flying it. I do check the H with my IR thermometer to ensure it isn't too hot between flights. I am probably over-thinking this, but, it never hurts to be cautious, especially with an investment of $1400 Can for the H plus the cost of the extra...

    Seriously Impressed with My H.

I agree with the rain. That is one weather condition that I would not risk. This is the most wind I have ever flown in. I wasn't certain that the H would handle it, but, pleasantly surprised. Anything more than today I would probably have called it a nice drive and a nice lunch. Any trip to the...

    Seriously Impressed with My H.

Thank you. I have to admit, the lack of flying opportunities is compounded by my new second hobby. My brother-in-law gave me a 1966 Buick Wildcat coupe for my birthday last month. This has been tapping my wallet as I slowly (well as fast as I can afford) restore it to the point where it will...

Brave, desperate, it's all the same when you have to drive almost 2 hours just to reach an area where you can fly. Most of the time I am a full time babysitter for my Granddaughter, but they are in BC on holidays this week So, while the cat is away, the mice will play.

I got tired of waiting and after driving over 1 1/2 hours to reach my site, I launched in 18 Mph winds. The winds at 320 ft were 30 mph gusting to 53 mph. Now, I am not suggesting this is for everyone, but, darn it, after 2 months of waiting, I ran out of patience and flew. Now, heavy sigh, for...

    Seriously Impressed with My H.

I know that the Typhoon H Pro is not considered the best of the family for high winds, but I have to say, I am impressed. I went out to the Crowsnest Pass today, first time in a couple of months. I wasn't expecting much, as there were supposed to be high winds. The last time the Pass called for...

    Shipping to Canada Questions/Problem

I have purchased parts out of the US to Canada and can tell you the Customs thing can really foul you up. Some gave sat in Customs for weeks. Even my landing gear got held up

Looking to mess up a perfectly good ST16.

If at first you don't succeed, ship it off, get it back and try again (Could get expensive but, now you have my curiosity up.) If I hadn't decided to give Ray my 4K, I would have a vested interest as carrying one controller would be nice.

If this is your first drone, I have a radical suggestion for you. Leave it in the box for a bit. Purchase a cheap starter drone, even one without GPS assistance. Learn to fly it in an open area, like a field. Ensure the controls are in Mode 2, but most already are. Get yourself confident with...
