I took the H for a short flight to make sure all is well. As usual it is except i did a pan check. Nothing happened and when I lowered the altitude it worked fine. I raised the drone again and it still didn't work. I have a feeling it's something simple but a new one for me.
Once again the pan is such a great feature and easy to use.

You are saying that it depends on the the elevation of the drone?
Is the camera proper locked? Check the gold contacts if the springs are all good on the camera mount.
@WTFDproject has some experiences with that. I saw a picture from him describing the problem with those contacts but I couln't find it at the moment.

Oh the pan worked fine at lower altitude about 75 ft. At 125 or so the pan wouldn't move it. Why would the altitude matter.
I know with your knowledge I won't question you.

The altitude itself should not matter. It seems more likely it is an intermittent failure of some sort.
There is a switch just to the left of the pan knob that controls the pan mode. It has three positions which changes how the pan reacts. Next time the pan knob does not work, it would be good to change the pan mode switch to see if it makes any difference. If the switch is in the top position, the camera will always face the front of the drone, regardless of what you do with the pan control knob.

Thanks tom but for once I tried these tests and I will get it going tomorrow. If not I'll come back and say OK I forgot something. Ha

Could it be, the camera pan is working but the video is frozen at higher altitude? Is the drone direct above you or in some distance? What 5GHz antenna do you use, patch or mushroom? What position the 5GHz antenna has?
There is a minimum in radiation for each antenna (in different directions) which may case frozen video.

That is a GREAT thought.
You can check it by starting a video. If the screen freezes at high altitude, but the video shows the pan was moving when you look at it later, @h-elsner may have realized the issue.
