Where the IRS sensor has trouble is the solder joints cracking where they join the M7 board and the filter glass breakingfrom impact. Silicone caulk is not likely to prevent that. The best practice is not to crash land the Breeze.

I fixed (re-solder) mine today for the SECOND time.

I can fly away....again.
