No, the Windows drivers offer an abstact COM port independent from USB-HW. The tool only sees this port. The only restriction is that the serial connection Rx/Tx have 3.3V level and the chip is fast enough to provide the baudrate (which I think all convertes do).
I have FTDI chips in use as well as CP210x. The YUNA100 is working too.

Okay. So basically, if you have 3.3v tx and rx, you are good to go.

I have calibrated four so far. It works like a charm.

It would still be nice to hack into their stm32 chip on the cgo3+ boards. LOL
