CGO3 Steady Grip

I bought a used Q500 4k that did not come with a Steady Grip. After some research It appears that there are at least 2 versions of the steady grip, a 6AA version and an 8AA version. I'm pretty sure with the CGO3 I need the 8AA. I can find the 6AA all day (ebay and other online retailers), but have I yet to locate the 8AA version.

Does anyone know if I can just do the Lipo 3s battery mod to allow enough voltage to the camera? (maybe this is a bad idea)

OR

Does anyone know where I could find the 8AA battery version? (without the camera)
