Hi,

Anyone out there with experience of a CGOET Thermal cam on a Typhoon H? 0r thought abou to buy one?
I think there are business opportunities to sell the "thermo drone service"
Today I got a pre-order price of $1999.99

Best from Sweden,

I have only seen a few pictures from that camera. For me, unless I could identify a human body from an altitude of 100 feet, and possible several hundred feet away, it would be of no use. For someone doing home inspections and looking to check for thermal leaks it may be of use. I know that thermal camera technology is expensive, I just do not think Yuneec has released enough information and sample video/photos to make any sort of judgment.

As a side note I thought the Swedish government grounded all the drones with cameras? Or was that Switzerland?

Is that an official price? Wow.
One of the limits of that camera seems it shows temperature only at center. If you need to check real temperatures, I would see how to perfectly center a flying machine to an exact target.
Would be interested in what they mean with low (residual?) light capabilities.

True, it was the 100% insane swedish socialistic gouvernment that banned drones with camera (on or off). Due to "integrety" reasons. To fly with drones are still ok. To breath as well! They closed down business for approx. 7000(!) people me included - from October 16 2016. Well "we" are working to change the law but it will take time.... Remember the word "SWEDEN"

I've heard rumours that for EU companies it is allowed to come and do drone works instead.

the solution and frames are bad... not useful for full thermal work, for find people or complicated buildings...

for 1000$ it would be a nice gimmick and help for some easy things. but 4000 is to much and for professional work you need better systems

True as long as you are not a Swedish citizen living abroard. So you cant't as Swede, register a company in an other EU ctry and then fly in Sweden.

Its far too early for me to say too much (its been raining in the UK a lot) but so far, its been quite an amazing bit of kit!
Thanks!
I would be interested in the low light performances, seen they mention it a lot.
Could you please post a couple of pictures in low light, I mean RGB and IR.
I guess also that you can't choose where to measure temperature, it is fixed to center, am I right?
Thanks again,
Ric

I would love to see a pic shot from about 100' up looking down at a person in a grove of trees.
Could you determine that there is a person there?

The low light is quite something. I didn't think it would be as good as it is. I am producing a review on the camera but as I said above, weather is a bit rubbish at the moment. I've never heard of a grove of trees, will a wood do?

Been using the ET for a week now very successfully. From 30M AGL found three black cows under trees in complete darkness with no ambient light. Also located a terrier in long grass in a field. Could not be found visually. The temperature reading is in the centre, but there is a colour scale on screen so it is easy to interpolate temperatures anywhere in the frame. Two gripes though -
Does not use the new modes introduced in the last update.
Despite having 2 models set (one for CGO3 and the other for CGOET) , whenever cameras are swapped out, it has to be re-bound to the ST16.

That makes sense. Two different brains.

Does the camera give both Celsius and Fahrenheit readings. I know the distance bars for the oa only reads in metric so I wouldn't be surprised, but I hope.

I also fly aircraft - my transmitter is bound to 9 different models with no need to re-bind - all settings are retained so can fly glider, stunt plane, helicopter and Vortex 250 racing drone by selecting the model on the transmitter.

My Dx9 does that also but the TH is not like regular RC set ups. It's quite proprietary. It's the video integration into their own platform that makes it unable to get along with regular DMX transmitter. My Chroma has a whole rig I built to handle tilt and pan on my Feiyu Tech mini gimbal and I can run everything of the Dx9. I use an Immersion RC transmitter and even got GoPro powered of the flight battery but I still have to carry another 7.4v battery to power the gimbal receiver and the voice telemetry data. It's exactly what I want it do as a flying camera but because it's on a Chroma it's just too shaky at unpredictable times for editing later. DJI offered all this during my learning curve but I never liked the flipped frequencies as I feel strongly that we should operate in the proper radio spectrums for both video and flight control.
The TH offered out of the box all that I attempted to make smooth and was so amazingly stable in video I just discharged the Chroma batteries and put it away. I'm still trying to figure out want to do with it but I honestly don't really like my old videos as the quality of the H is so much better I'm revisiting my best sites and reshooting.

I don't look at this as a normal RC at all. It's a specialized set up that's got enough of the standard radio sticks and behaviors to satisfy experienced RC users but intuitive enough for rookies though I always say start small first (dromidas, blades, Estes, whatever) and crash it, break it, loose it, fix it, cry over it, and do all you can do to train your brain to focus on flying first and make that second nature before you jump into full video and flight on any platform form Yuneec, DJI, 3Dr, Autel or whatever.

And let's not forget Christmas is coming and while we won't see Karma nightmares there are still lots of our ships sold at Best Buy to people who have never owned any multi rotors and they hit the sky dec 25!
