Is there a way to tell if the collision avoidance system is activated on the screen of the controller? Just by flipping the switch on/off does not give me a good sense that it is activated.

Yes, it is ON, it is not displayed.
Once an obstacle is detected, you will hear a beep and you will see the distance in the display.
The display error will be fixed in the next update.
