So yesterday i took my H to the park and was surprised how easy it was to maneuver it. Had some minor issues, mostly with the camera (me). Operated it in smart/smart obs, angle mode and was able to navigate first person via the screen itself.

My question though is i started an obit me mode and thought the camera would be trained on me through the whole event. Does it matter if in orbit mode, weather or not you are in watch me or follow me mode. Also i thought if you changed elevation, the camera would stay centered on the initial position.

This was at the end of my flight and you can tell the battery warning came on after the second rotation and disabled orbit.

If possible then im sure i had a setting wrong.
Yes i left the gear down during my first flight

Stick and rudder im very comfortable with, camera settings are another story.

Looks good to me, as I have yet to maiden mine. The last flight I had was 3 years ago with a Blade 350 QX3 with a Mobius under it. I imagine I am in a for a pleasant surprise when my time comes.

Good landing!

For camera settings I highly recommend Jeff Sibelius and Captain Drone on YouTube. Jeff has a few videos devoted to it and he goes through it slowly enough it sinks in and on the second viewing you can follow along with your TH480 and ST16

I got it printed and bound yesterday and subscribed to Jeff's youtube as well. I tried searching his vids but did not find it although i do remember seeing it.

I read the manual but it is a lot to digest. However i figured it out on the next flight and worked flawlessly. It's just going to take a while to get all the switching combinations fluent. I do see some good uses for smart mode, sometimes in combination with angle......i can visualize how i could use them together for video, just have to get more practice in.

Was worried about taking it out far and doing maneuvers ~400yds at 200ft (was in a large park) but surprised myself. Ran an obstacle course(slalom) consisting of baseball diamond lighting.First time was LOS the next was viewing the screen.

I got real sense with mine but have not used it yet.
Got quite windy towards the end and was surprised how it would still hold its hover.

Sounds like you’re making very good progress!

Jeff Sibelius provided some nice organization on his YouTube channel. Use the “Playlists” to see how he’s categorized his videos. That should help you find what you’re looking for.

May I suggest GensAce/Tattu for batteries? Generally very good batteries at prices lower than anyone else. You can buy almost 3 of their UltraX batteries for the price of one Yuneec battery. Free shipping if you’re in the U.S. Flight time is essentially the same as stock batteries.

BTW, sounds like you’re doing everything right, especially for someone new to multirotors. Reading up on the system, making the first orientation flights in wide open places, learning the modes and controls, etc. You will do well and the H will help you a lot to do even better as you become more familiar with it. Camera work just takes a lot of practice, both with the settings and learning your post processing programs. Well done sir!

Today might be too windy to try the pond shots.
