Flight time and Yuneec batteries- reconsidered

Sorry guys, I decided to scrap the comment.

After further evaluation and crunching some numbers upon doing a couple tests it appears my off the cuff remarks were uncalled for.

The battery does drop voltage more than I think it should, but the final results don't agree with my initial observations.

Further, I agree with Flushvision's comments.

As above, I used the stock charger to recharge the brand new Yuneec battery. I then used my iCharger to see how much more capacity the battery had. It only took 47 additional mah's so that tells me the stock charger is pretty good.

Now I'm really beginning to wonder if the battery sensor in the H is defective. When I landed on the new battery yesterday, the ST16 showed 15.5v IIRC. The person with me commented I hadn't been flying that long; not even 10 minutes.

So next I will charge one of the other two batteries and report the results.

I would think 15.5v after 10 min isn't unusual. I don't land until I see around 14.7 or .8. After the motors are off, there is a voltage rebound back over 15v. I think you will find you can get a lot more flight time with more cycles on the bats and waiting longer to land.

I've only done two test flights so far (not had the opportunity). The first flight I took it to the low level warning before landing but the second flight I was far more careful and watched my battery level closely. I noticed a steep drop off from full and was at 15v in a very short time. However, from 14.9v the drop of was far more sedate and it took a while to get to my 14.4v landing target. It seems to me, then, that although it drains quickly at the start, the drain levels off (so to speak).

Overall, it took over 16 minutes to get from full to 14.4v on landing. Not great, but at least in par with my Phantom 2 Vision plus.

I agree. I expected better too given Yuneec's claims. I was expecting to get over 20 minutes but even on the flight where I finished up landing after the second warning (another story in another thread) It only managed just over 18 minutes!

Now that I look back to yesterday, I probably could have made it out to the freighter and back on the lake, but I get jittery when over water and am not familiar enough with this H to know its distance limitations. On the way home there were fireworks in Sandusky; that would have been neat to record from the air, but by the time I set up and figured out what camera settings to use, they'd have been all done.

Anyway, I'm very pleased with the way it flies, just wish I didn't need to take a crash course in learning to use the camera properly. Next I'll have to see if mine has the focus issue some are complaining about.

I've got a few more test flights to do before I consider taking it above water. I remember the last drone I bought flew beautifully on it's first 4 flights then on the 5th caned it into a tree without warning even though it'd been set up correctly. I'm not in any great rush to finish testing...I got two other drones to play with in the mean time.

They "seem" so far to be operating fine. Measured IR after full charge is between 3 and 6 mohms per cell on all three batteries I have. I have been landing at 14.6 to 14.7 volts as read on the tx which requires about 3500 mah to get back to full charge. So I am operating well within suggested parameter of not more than 80% capacity. Flight time is around 13min, and happy with that. Would rather stay on the safe side although I know I can push them more. Having 3 batteries, I can get the video I want with no problems.

If you get the MS 8000 mah lipo it will put you at 24 min the graphene 6600 mah gets 19-20min.

They all have 1-2mohm after 40 cycles of use.
