I'll probably get lambasted for this but I don't think anything should jeopardize our rights even viruses. The founding fathers especially Benjamin Franklin didn't say "those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety except for a plandemonic tragedy"
Arguing that we shouldn't fly because we could place undue stress on 1st responders is ludicrous. We are adults and if the gov't says stay 6 feet away to avoid giving and getting the virus then we should heed those suggestions.
Letting the gov't circumvent our God given rights is always unconstitutional and against our God given natural laws. The gov't always assumes were all to stupid to raise our kids, drive, fly, eat etcetera. They are right about some of the morons that just do whatever they feel like doing but the gov't can't right enough rules and play big brother to stop fools like that.
The gov't has desecrated the constitution, natural law and forcibly introduced socialism under the guise of safety. It's truly time to look at the big picture on this one. 3000 babies are aborted each day and no one blinks an eye but the Corona virus stops our rights in a heartbeat. Accidents, viruses, war and other tragedies occur at an alarming rate. Want to be safe wrap yourself in bubble wrap, put on a face mask and never leave home. That's not living in my book.
The act of flying isn’t the problem, the biggest issue is non essential travel. The ER was always overcrowded before the pandemic. Just think what the number one complaint has been with most hospital ER’s - the wait time to be treated. Now throw a contagion like SARS Co2 that causes Covid19 into the mix. You don’t just stroll into the ER anymore. You are vetted entering the hospital. If you are not the patient you don’t get in (unless you are a caretaker for a minor or mentally incompetent person). If your illness/injury is not life threatening you will be sent home to recuperate. Even if you display Covid19 symptoms, if you are not in a life threatening situation you will not be tested and you will be sent home.
The whole stay home, stay safe is about avoiding accidents that would place a further strain on the first responders and the hospital facilities. If you are able to walk to your flight area and be totally away from other people (not just avoiding overflight) or you have property you can fly at and not endanger others, I have no problem with you flying.
So those that ignore the guidelines and do as they please place an undue burden on our first responders and medical system. This also flows over into the people providing essential services such as farming and all other steps getting food to the grocery stores. Those providing utilities, internet for remote work and communications, pharmaceuticals, and the list goes on.
At some point the doctors, nurses, first responders, police, fire and so on will mentally and physically burn out. We will be in a world of trouble at that point. I truly hope we never get to that point.
So for now my LiPo batteries are sitting on storage charge. If I do fly it will be at a place I can walk to and is safely away from others and their property. Yes there are a couple I can do that, but I also don’t want others coming around wondering what I’m doing or calling law enforcement and having them pulled off of something more critical to come see what I am up to.
If you think this is bad now, just think of what was implemented during WWII with rationing and more. That and Martial Law are but a stroke of the pen away.
