Since I had a bad battery I decided to see if I could take it out. Yes! If you have an extra bad battery you can replace it.
open the back side, in there you will see a wire, slide that to the left using a needle nose, then take the spring out using a screwdriver, push the spring down from the top, the spring can now be taken out.
now I will attempt to replace.

I replaced the hook, about a minute to reinsert. the wire shaft must be put in the same direction it came out. if you look at the ends of the wire shaft one side is smooth the other side has guides. (not sure on the nomenclature)
Once you have done this, make sure hook will work properly.
