Greetings,
Have had the H Pro for almost a year, still have problems with getting the highest setting for still photos.
I see where when in Video, there are many settings for video, but not that I can find for Stills. I have the Peau 3.97 16 megapixel lens, and would like to get best resolution for printing still photos.

I have search forum and have some very helpful msg from other user but still not having luck in this matter.

I set to photos (learned not to take stills in video mode) but still not getting most out of a 16 megapixel lens.

I have my Part 107 and friend asked for photos of his home and his camp, and want best photos for high quality printing.

Thanks to everyone for help, good old Vietnam makes it hard to remember anything! sucks

The Peau has a maximum resolution of 16 MP when used on a camera with a larger sensor.
But on the H, you will still have a maximum pixel resolution of 3000x4000, yielding a 12 MP image.
Also make sure the ST-16 is placed in "advanced" mode, so you can select "DNG" as your chosen
file type.

Yup, the 16 MP designation is misleading. They're sort of claiming it's accurate enough that it will work with a 16 MP sensor. If you put it on a camera with a 20 MP sensor you might see distortion, chromatic aberration and focus issues.

The H has a 12 MP sensor, so that's the max you'll ever get out of it.

AJ, As the others said, 12 MP is all your gonna get but; when you mentioned the above I just thought I would make sure you're seeing everything on the photo menu.

1] Make sure the slider for the different capture modes is slid down to "Photo" (Thats the orange button next to the yellow "1")

2] Press the Settings button as shown next to the yellow "2"

3] A Dialogue Box should pop up and give you all the photos settings; make sure your set to dng+jpg in the "Photo Format" as shown near the yellow "3"

Note: On the next line down you'll see the heading "Image Format" all that does is change between the presets for the JPG only, if you're using the DNG, this won't matter and you can set it to any of the settings as it will only effect the JPG. Personally I just leave it set on Gorgeous.

Greetings,

Thanks for all the great info. For some reason I was thinking there was a dropdown, like the video to pick a resolution size photo. Didn't know info on camera megapixel size too, good to know.

My last photo session, I see photo's is 1920 x 1080, by 373KB? Seems low for 12MP?

Thanks again everyone.

Some fireworks going off at the Casino by me, so maybe some photos of that tonight.

It will seem counter-intuitive since in theory, since they should not be dependent on each other, but...

You need to have your video settings at 4K, or you will not get the full resolution photo files. o_O
When you are shooting 1920x1080 in video, you get the same image size for the photos.

If they are true 12MP files they will have dimensions that are 3000x4000. DNGs will save
to a size of about 23MB. I think the JPGs come in at about 2-3 MB, but I have not had the
need to save both formats on the camera.

You will also be able to tell that you are shooting full 12MP, because when you switch to
photo mode the image will looked stretched... because the preview on the ST-16 will still
be set at the 16:9 dimensions of video.

You must set both video and camera settings for the highest resolution. They may seem to be completely separate from each other, but they are not. Video setting affects still photo resolution.

Video must be set to any of the 4k frame rate settings for 4000 x 3000 resolution. So go to video mode, set to 4k, and then go into camera mode and set up for DNG or DNG & JPG. JPG by itself is of lower resolution.

Any time you elect to take a still photo while the camera is in video mode the final resolution will be 1920 x 1080, regardless of the video settings. Always. You cannot take a high resolution picture with the camera in a video mode. It must be in camera mode.

That's not been my experience. I always shoot video in 3840x2160. If I take a photo while in video mode, it comes out 4000x3000. Here's an example where I was shooting a sunset video and took photos while in the air. I have other examples also.

Mine follows along with the 1.2 version of the manual. If I am in photo mode, photos are full resolution and in the format selected, JPG, DNG, or both. If I am in video mode and press the photo button, there is only a JPG photo saved in the same resolution as the video mode is set for. In my case 3840X2160. Running the current software version.

"NOTICE: C-GO3-Pro camera is the default selection in ST16. You can
take still photos in the video recording mode. The resolution is set by
the video resolution."

I stand corrected. Tested yesterday. Video mode set 3840x2160x30p. Stopped video, took photo (still in video mode). Photo is also 3840x2160 or 8.3 Mp. My previous example (4000x3000) must have been switched to photo mode.
By the way, we had a great day shooting in the Cascade mountains. I'll post a video soon.
