Raspberry Pi in the sky: How to build this awesome $115 airplane tracker
Cool Private Pilots are using these to get ADSB weather and traffic too.
Receiver only it's not a transceiver
Correct, They are using it as an ADSB IN device for an inexpensive WX/Traffic display on an IPAD. in flight. Great article Stig.
The ADSB out requirement starts Jan 1 2020.
I've been running a pi with ads-b receiver for about a year. I feed to flight aware and flight radar. They give you premium access to their sites for feeding. It's pretty neat seeing the exact height and speed of the planes!
Edit- tried to display screen shot of my flightaware dashboard but it's not showing up..

Turn it into a file first.
Yes I know We have already updated our planes for it. Thats a nice inexpensive way to display it. Makes flying in Socal easier.
Here's a nice kit on amazon for $75 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BX1QSFK/ref=crt_ewc_title_gw_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AHALS71WJO58T
Hey! Howdy neighbor. I live right by Hooks too!
Nice! Don't steal my business! Which would be hard since I have none at this moment! Hahahahahahahaaa
That's pretty sweet! I just might have to add to my hobby collection... now what can I buy my wife to distract her! Lol
No way I'll be doing that. We'll have to fly sometime though. Just ordered the kit from Amazon so I'll be busy Saturday.
Sounds good. Hahaha... Have fun with it!
Luckily, FlightRadar24 gave me one of their receivers to host.
I am high and near an airport that was not covered.
