Turn on the ST12 and go to the Hardware Monitor. See if the sticks are precisely following your movements without lag and return exactly to center. This really sounds like you have dirty sticks on the ST12 and you need to clean them. Most likely the right stick left/right if the aircraft is moving sideways.
