Like has been said over and over. Stay away from the auto settings (especially WB).
I play with the settings for each shot photo, or video. getting the settings, framing, and lighting right will make all the difference with any camera.

It was cropped and resized but not enhanced. Playing with the fixed white balance settings, ISO, and exposure time can really pay off.
