Landing Gear Removal For Travel

I found some vids on Youtube of people removing landing gear to make quad more compact for travel. They show a wire/antenna hidden in one of the skids. I got mine a month ago (assume it's the newest version of the 4K model) and I see no wire/antenna in either skid. Was it moved into the body and can I still remove landing skids for travel with no ill effects? Looks like they are held to body by a tiny hex bolt.

the skids on the 4K are flimsily at best i purchased a Carbon Fiber Gimbal Guard and it made the skids a lot more firmer and a little stronger .

I make these and the rods can go on and off without screws for travel.

If you put a Gimbal guard on how do you get it into the case?
