Lights on the landing gear?

Has anyone attached a string of LED lights to the landing gear? The lights on the bottoms of the motors are hard to see what's in front of what once it gets out a ways.
Was thinking that lights running down the landing gear, so that you could only see them from one side, would work pretty good. I've seen some for sale for the Phantoms but they're designed to snap onto their legs. I guess I could get some and tear into them and make them work but wanted to see if anyone else has done anything.

I bought two white leds for the front and two red for the back. The led module has 4 modes of flashing and solid on. They are very bright.
