I use front and rear flashers on my bicycle whenever I'm on the bike. They work and people comment on the fact that they are able to see me from a long way off.

For my TH480 I got the Strobon Cree strobes from Carolina Dronz

There may be a bonus with the Bontrager solution though in battery life.
