What is the acceptable amount of play that is allowed in the typhoon h arms before you have to replace the clips... Thank you in advance.

I have one clip that likes to let go when I do the compass calibration. It’s not to the dropping on its own stage yet, so as long as I am careful, I usually can get through a calibration ok. Now if I have another arm get “loose” then I’m likely looking at replacement time.

The prevailing sentiment seems to be growing against performing so many calibrations unless really necessary.

That’s all I have for a guideline.

I have a tendency to carry an H by one arm, often maneuvering the aircraft this way and that when hand carrying, including setting the aircraft in a ground position. I've noticed the arm that usually gets handled the most has developed a condition where it can now be folded without making use of the release latch mechanism.

Perhaps any arm that can be folded without first requring the release latch be depressed is a good time to replace the worn out portion of the latch.

I don't worry about "slop" unless it gets excessive. However, it only takes a few minutes to change the clips and they are inexpensive.

If they go down with pressure and not releasing the arm then you need to look at changing the spring. If the metal tang attached to the body is beat up, you need to replace both. Hard landings or crashes can chip the wedge end of that part and the spring won’t hold properly. Open up all your arms, flip it over unpowered and press on the belly slightly to see what’s wreak.
