Need help, Done says Controlled by another device

Leave the RC controller off. Power up the Mantis Q and navigate to Settings, WiFi on your iPhone. After a few scans of the networks around you the Mantis_xxxxxx (the x’s are the last six digits of the Mantis WiFi AP) SSID should appear in the menu. Select it and then select the “i” to bring up the information screen.

On the information screen select “forget this network”

The screen will return to the main WiFi settings. Now select the Mantis_xxxxxx SSID again and enter the password you find on the label on the side of your Mantis Q (note the SSID should match the one that shows up on the phone).

As shown here. If you do not have a label on the side, check where you install the battery.

Enter the password and select Join. If accepted you should see a check mark appear like in the first photo here.

Now open the Yuneec Pilot app and select Disconnected.

Select to scan QR code.

The drone should now connect.

The Mantis can be flown this way, but I don’t encourage it.

You should now be able to Power off the Mantis Q and then connect normally using both the RC and the phone connect via USB.

I’ll add to this in a follow up post. There is a 10 photo limit for each post.

For most iPhones you will need a USB-A to Lightning data capable cable (the USB-C connection on the RC is charging only).

Insert the cable into the USB-A connector on the RC.

Now mount the phone in the holder on the RC and insert the other end of the cable into the charging/data port.

Power on your Mantis Q and wait for it to initialize.

It should connect automatically. Now select the Connected button.

You should now be ready to fly. Always wait to hear the “Home point recorded” message before taking off.

Enjoy!

Try connecting with just the iPhone via WiFi. I will have you forget the Mantis WiFi connection that may be stored in the phone’s WiFi settings. I will do this on my iPhone XR and take photos and upload them and the process soon.

I connected my phone with drone without control and it still happened that “ the drone controlled another device “ :(

I tried to connect by QR code but it was waiting long time and failed so I tried to disconnect in the Wifi side and followed your instructions and they can connect like the phone . But when I opened the app, and blind QR code, it’s happened again that “ the drone controlled by another device “ . I went to the app to disconnect and connect again but it wasn’t work well 😅🥲🥲🥲🥲

Leave the RC off, power up the Mantis Q, open the Yuneec Pilot app on the phone. On the opening screen select the [-] to the left of the button showing disconnected. The next screen shows the scanner for the QR code at the bottom select Manual Connection. It then instructs you to go to the WiFi Settings menu. Select the Mantis_A2066F and connect to it. You should hear two beeps showing connection. Return to the Yuneec Pilot app and you should be connected and show a video feed.

If that is successful then try it along with the RC and phone being connected by the USB data cable. Note that you need to have a USB-A to Lightning cable. A USB-C to Lightning will not work.

I used this cable to connect with RC . funny thing that when I connected by WiFi side and come back to the app , nothing happened. the scene still the instruction to manual connect. and when I skip to main scene, they still write that “ the drone controlled by another device “ . I’m totally give up 🙌🙌🙌

This sounds like an issue with the electronics inside the Mantis Q. Most likely an issue with the WiFi module. I would go for a refund or exchange with the seller.

Thank you for hanging in there with the troubleshooting process. Hope you are able to resolve this with the seller. The Mantis Q is a fun aircraft to fly.

Thank you a lot for trying to help me too . I thought about it too and the company told me that they will send me the form for return soon . I read and see a lot reviews and video about Yuneec before I decided to buy it in the website. I think it’s good for a girl like me to study how to fly with Yuneec from beginning because you can control with your voice and they have many instructions and attractive feature. But maybe I will exchange with another Yuneec to try it again . Thank you a lot and hope you have good evening 🌆!!!

It is funny that I have not even tried any of the voice commands with the Mantis Q. I learned to fly with sticks and with all the gaming I used to do, I haven’t even thought to try it.

I hope the Mantis understands me better than Siri. She always tells me she doesn’t understand.🤣

Haha 😂 so you should try it one day . I know that flycam will be better with me man more than woman but I planned for a trip next time and want to make better video and photo with flycam. So seem Mantis will be easy for me more than another flycam . Really love it when I saw the review video from YouTube about using voice control.

Ok, that means the Mantis WiFi is free to bind when the phone WiFi is off. So turn off the phone’s WiFi and try rebinding with the controller. Make sure the USB cable connects the phone and controller so you get the video feed from the camera on the screen.
Got it, I'll give it a shot.

Start with info at post #15 that is from experience after actually having a Mantis Q to work with. Hope you get it working. Let us know how you fare.
