I am going to try the "Point of Interest" function on my H today and was wondering if anyone here has used it? I think it could be useful for doing cell tower inspections, especially if you are able to control the radius AFTER beginning the flight. Anyone know if this is possible to do?

Yes, you can alter both radius and height while the POI orbit is happening. All your stick controls work except yaw, and aileron, which controls orbit direction instead of roll.
But watch out for GPS / HDOP inaccuracy; it is not often I achieve a perfect circle around the centerpoint using POI - it always seems to be off to one side, and I can never predict which side that will be ! So make sure there is plenty of space all around the thing you want to POI and you should be OK.

Thanks for the reply, info and warning! Much Appreciated Sir!

You can control speed by how far you push the right stick. It will often be slow to start but then move quicker then you want. Move the right stick in the opposite direction to slow down as needed. What you’ll discover is that rotating a circle in a rectangle view is tricky to center and have that middle spot stay centered in the image. You still have full gimbal control as well so it’s pretty useful for shooting a wide area with different view angles of subject vs background.

Of all the functions available to the H480, the POI is the only one I've used since I think it's the only one that has any use to me.

I echo what other posters have said. Can be tricky to centre and keep that spot centred throughout the circuit, but when it goes well it looks good.

I did a test POI flight yesterday. I recorded a long very boring slooooow flight around a sign at the lake.

It went well and I think this feature is great for doing inspections. After I was done with the POI flight, I tried to fly around the park some, but almost immediately after taking off, I lost Compass and the H headed straight for the trees, I lost control and had to make an emergency landing...It was close to disaster!

How many sats did you have?

18 total??? H??? Controller???
I don't know what the heck you are talking about….As far as I know, the only place to see how many satellites there are is on the ST16 Controller. There certainly isn't any where on the H that show that information...Unless I have been asleep for the last 6 months....:P

The controller will show the numbers of satellites locked on both; the Controller and ST-16. Now you are awakening. ;)

I like to have a minimum of eight satellites before taking off, but that's not always the case.
