Problem with US software on Leica camera and H3 drone

Welcome.
I have a problem with my H3 drone and LEICA camera. It has the US software installed because apparently the camera on the EU during calibration and other tests was heating up a lot (on the ground but never in flight). How do I reinstall our EU software and where do I download it from.
Thank you

I have 2 LEICA cameras but only one has a picture and the other when connecting to the camera it says "NO SSIDs found". What should I do in this case, apart from installing the EU software in the other one? I installed the US software because the camera reportedly overheats a lot when running on a desk.
One camera works normally (takes a very long time to connect) while the other unfortunately has a connection problem. What can be done with the other one ?There is vertical and horizontal control and no picture. Can installing new UE software help (the one that does not work did not have any software installed) or is the wifi module dead?

No SSID found may point to a defect WiFi board of the camera. I think it is not possible to repair it with FW update. The SSID should be visible at any device that has 5GHz WiFi. I usually check the WiFi from the Yuneec cameras with a WiFi analyzer app. If it not visible there then the WiFi is not working at all.

The Leica is a C23/e90 in disguise. If you remove the extra long camera case, bingo! There before you lays a standard C23/E90 assembly with no difference other than how the case LED is routed. (See image posted below.)

With that said, the most common problem I see when this issue is present in C23/E90 is a bad ribbon cable. Those things are rare to find and expensive. It is not something you would normally want to buy and install just to see if that is actually the problem.

If it were me, I would try an SD card firmware update to either the US or EU versions to see if it would work.

The next thing I would try is swapping the WiFi board from the working camera. There could be a slight risk of ribbon damage during the swap, but the risk is pretty low if you are cautious. The WiFi boards are not nearly as difficult as swapping a ribbon, they are far more common, and not so expensive.

If neither work, I would contact @Enrico Jorysch or @h-elsner for better advice.

Side note"
"the camera reportedly overheats a lot when running on a desk." is 100% normal for C23/E90. The WiFi and Gimbal boards are both stuck in the rear arm without ventilation. The air flow from the props keeps them cool during flight. They all overheat sitting for too long on a desk. The overheating can and will damage either board if allowed to continue too long. Of course, failures of the components in the arm can cause the overheating to occur much faster. It would be good to know if the observed overheating occurred noticeably faster than normal.

Update via SD with defective ribbons can produce a brick in some situations.
What the LED shows?

That is true. But "Update via SD with defective ribbons can produce a brick in some situations" is also true.
It is stated the camera already has no firmware. It is a matter of risk against the unknown. The risk can be minimized, but at some expense and with increased risk of creating ribbon damage that does not currently exist, possibly to find the ribbon was not the issue. Hence the phrase "If it were me...". Each of us makes our own decisions.

Hi Polski pilot .
I had that problem for a while at the beginning . Only thing I did is to cancel the home wifi and let the drone wifi made the connection between the RC and the camera . Had no problems since . I'm not a wizard or a hot shot in electronics . Just a simple pilot . I hope this will help you and solve your problem . Good luck . 👍

Did you resolve this issue?
If so, what was the resolution?
If not, let us know your status and what you need.

As an update to you, I experimented with a Leica L1. The camera updated normally to EU Build 705 ( 20200729) using an SD card in the camera. There were no issues at all.
I then tried to install Build 705 US firmware (region change). The update failed, leaving no video showing on the controller and the controller showing "N/A" for camera firmware. Those points sound a lot like your description. The install/region change was tried a few times with different SD cards and SD card formats. It always failed in the same manner, and with the same results.

The good news is that when I reinstalled the Build 705 EU firmware via SD card, the update went normally and the camera returned to normal EU function.

The experiment seems to show the US firmware I have is bad. However, Yuneec cameras are also a little strange when running SD card updates and region changes. It is easy to mistake the LED indications and brick a camera (temporarily) by powering down too soon.

Hi WTFDProject . As I wrote it solved my issue . Whenever I go for a spin the connection is flawless and the flight a pleasure .

Thank you for all the advice so far, but I want to go back to the basic software but how to update and swap the software (is US) of the leica camera on the H3 drone and where to download the latest EU? Can you change only in the camera or do you have to change in the drone as well?

You can change only the camera, but you need to ensure the existing firmware on the drone and controller are consistent with your choice of camera firmware.
There are two viable versions of EU firmware, Build 573 from 2019 and Build 705 from around 2020. If you need help determining which is correct fro you, post a screenshot of your controller's version information page.
There is only one confirmed viable version of the US firmware, which is from the 2019 Build 573.

When you know which version you need:
1.) Copy the associated "camera.bin" file to a freshly formatted SD card.
2.) Put the SD card in the camera.
3.) Ensure the controller is OFF.
4.) Power on the camera.
5.) LEAVE THE CAMERA ALONE for about 4 minutes. (There will be an array of LED signals. Some LED patterns may make it appear the update is complete when it is NOT. Premature shutdown may cause issues, including possible brick.)
Note: If camera overheating is a problem, use a small fan to keep the camera cool during the update.

Build 573 SD Cards (EU and US)
Build 705 SD Cards (EU Only)

Only the camera part is region-dependent, gimbal, autopilot (flight controller) or RC not.
Build 705 is the latest EU firmware that I have. The original file name is "H3_IONL1P_E_1.0.05_BUILD705_20200729.yuneec".
Despite the name the file is a ZIP file that contains 4 files:
autopilot.yuneec
camera.bin
gimbal.yuneec
versioninfo.json

The last one is a simple text file that describes the package:
{
"project_name": "H3",
"camera_name": "IONL1P",
"wifi_band": "E",
"version": "1.0.05",
"build_num": 705,
"build_time": 20200729
}

For a short period of time I put the FW package on my webserver:

You can try to rename the file camera.bin into firmware.bin and put on an empty SD card. Put the SD card in the camera and power it on. Check if flashing starts.
@WTFDproject known more about manual FW update. Ask him before you start. See above.
