When my newbie questions become too annoying, please let me know - gently :).

The manual for the H+ states: Propellers should be replaced every 20 flight hours. I am wondering if this is a guideline that most pilots follow, and if not, what is the experienced lifetime of props for the H or similar hexacopters? Thanks!

I’ve been using the same props on two H-480’s for over 100 hours each set. You might want to ask the 520 operators what their experience has been with their props. They are the same props as the H Plus.

My experience with props, which is extensive for model airplanes and many different multirotors, is if they were well made, they are good until they hit something or something hits them.

Solid props are good until they hit something and folding props are good until they will not hold them self straight when hold it out level . Once the folding prop won’t stay straight while holding it level that tells ya the rivets are getting loose .
