TELEMETRY READING ANY HELP PLEASE

DON’T USE EXCEL IT WILL MESS THEM UP FOR THE Q500LOG2KML.EXE PROGRAM (YOU CAN REFETCH THEM FROM THE ST-16 IF YOU HAVE ALREADY).

WHEN YOU GET THE TELEMETRY TO USE WITH HELMUT’S PROGRAM, BRING ALL THREE FOLDERS (TELEMETRY, REMOTE, AND REMOTE GPS) INTO A FOLDER ON YOUR DESKTOP (MAYBE NAME IT TH-TELEMETRY). THEN WHEN YOU USE THE LOG2KML PROGRAM JUST POINT TO THE TH-TELEMETRY FOLDER AND IT WILL LOAD THE DATA FOR ALL THREE TELEMETRY AREAS.

WHEN YOU CLICK ON CONVERT IT WILL GENERATE THE KML FILES FOR EACH FLIGHT. IF YOU HAVE GOOGLE EARTH PRO LOADED, YOU CAN RIGHT CLICK A KML FILE AND TELL IT TO ‘OPEN WITH...’ GOOGLE EARTH PRO. GOOGLE EARTH WILL OPEN AND ZOOM IN TO THE FLIGHT AREA AND DISPLAY THE FLIGHT PATH LIKE STEVE CARR UPLOADED FOR YOU.

YOU MAKE SOME NICE VIDEOS KEITH. WHAT DO YOU SHOOT WITH, AND EDIT/PUBLISH WITH?

I WAS TAKING A CLOSER LOOK AT THE LAST FLIGHT AND NOTICED THAT THE COMPASS ALARM COINCIDES WITH THE APPROACH TO THE METAL GRATE DRAW BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER. THAT COULD VERY WELL BE WHAT TRIPPED THE ALARM, ESPECIALLY IF IT WAS BEING RAISED OR LOWERED AT THE TIME.

A COMMERCIAL PILOT CRASHED HIS TH RECENTLY, WHILE ON A JOB WITH A METAL SUPPORT BRIDGE. IF HE HAD REALIZED WHAT WAS GOING ON IN TIME, HE COULD HAVE TURNED OFF GPS AND POSSIBLY RECOVERED CONTROL. JUST SOMETHING TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN YOU GET YOUR NEW BIRD.

TyPilot has a good suggestion for recovering UAV’s from water. A bobber thing that attaches to the landing gear, and if it hits water,releases the bomber on a fish line. And wa-la, find the bobber, pull up the UAV.
 
Hi colleagues, as always I read and learn from the good people on this forum. I hear Keith and the rest who always make quality contributions to this forum and I want to thank you. One of my request is to post a tutorial video on as to how you read the telemetry files and how you use google maps in conjunction to solve the solutions I have always heard on this forum. I would highly appreciate it .Again thanks to PatR, DoomMeister, Steve Carr and please pardon me if your name was not acknowledged hear, my hat up to you guys for making this forum a learning experience.

Sorry for misunderstanding your post! My brother is a trauma nurse also, so I can understand where you are coming from. Please accept my apologies and keep up the wonderful work you do. I’m pretty good at diagnosing machines and fixing them, but meeting death face to face on an almost daily regimen has to really effect the soul. So I do understand the facade that has to be worn to deal with that.

THE BRIDGE WAS NOT BEING RAISED OR LOWERED AT THE TIME OF LAUNCH. I AM CURIOUS HOW YUNEEC WILL HANDLE THIS. THIS HAPPENED SO FAST I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO THINK. I JUST TRIED TO GAIN ALTITUDE SO IT WOULD NOT HIT THE TREES. WHICH IT DID NOT AS YOU WELL KNOW. BUT I HAD NO CONTROL ONCE I SAW

I had a similar problem about a month ago, and lost my Typhoon H in the bay at St Michael's Mount in Cornwall UK. I flew about three flights from the same spot, and brought the bird back fine, but on my last one, I made the dumb mistake of not pressing the video button. So as I had a charged battery, I decided to have another flight. Lifted off and made sure I pressed record, and flew off in a similar path to the previous one. Shortly after lift off, I got a GPS lost warning on the ST16. Knowing that I couldn't 'Return to Home' without GPS, I decided to gain height and see the bird in clear sky rather than the back drop of the mount. BUT.. I then made the unforgivable goof of wrong sticking it, like someone has mentioned in another post sometime ago, and pulled back on the stick as in an aircraft. Brain fade occured when trying to clear the warning off the screen of the st16 so I could also see what the camera was seeing, and cleared it in time to see the final picture of the water coming up.

I looked for it in the approximate area I thought it was, but to no avail. When I got back I checked the telemetry and found it wasn't as far in as I though. Next time I'll take my laptop and mifi with me so I can check sooner, if God forbid, it happens again.

Totally my fault I know and sick as a parrot after the event. But I tried to contact Yuneec UK Customer Support to see if it was possible to buy a Typhoon H on it's own without a controller and bag etc., but never heard anything, so I hope Keith has better luck. I have now got a full kit again, so I've also got spares!
