Well, I did it again. Started flying and assuming the controller was in the settings I need it to be.
After two crashes, one crash took out two props, second crash dismounted the camera gimbal rubber mounts. All in 20 minutes. 😞
I got the rubber mounts back in, took the drone out, and started testing. It was not “Acting” right. It would go up, and down, and also side to side correctly when I first took off. But at one point it would not fly towards me, and the side to side would be reversed. Set it down, made sure the “Mode” was correct, took it up again, with the same results.
So I shut it down and planned on doing a reset on the drone and remote.
I was looking over the switch’s and seen that the remote was in “Smart” mode. SMH!
Almost the same thing that happened when I got my H last week. Only it was in Home. 😞

So hopefully I will learn to check the remote thoroughly before switching both on.

Thank goodness all I damaged was two props out of the two crashes.

Was this the same drone I suggested you check for the Safe Mode three days ago?
You never directly addressed that comment, so I am not sure. Especially since you posted this thread in the General Discussion category and did not specify which drone you are talking about.
"I got it!!"

5 mistakes that you can do as beginner:
1) First test flights to learn how the drone behaves with camera mounted.
2) Maiden flight on your doorstep.
3) Flight (in not open area) with bad GPS on both, conroller and drone.
4) First test flights in Smart mode.
5) First test flights with reduced power - turtle mode.

* The numbers are not a priorisation, only for reference.

Best practice:
1) Remove the camera and do some flights in different modes to see how the drone reacts and if all is OK. This avoids expensiver damages. The drone is easier to repair compared to the camera/gimbal. You don't need the camera to learn to fly - eyes to the drone, not to the screen.
2) Beginn to fly in open area with no obstacles near by. I know the new toy must be checked out as soon as possible but it is better to be careful.
3) Keep in mind that a proper GPS fix needs time. And a good GPS accuracy at ST16 and drone are absolutely neccessary for Smart mode but also for all GPS supported modes. In most cases this is not possible at your doorstep. I believe that escape movements of the drone in Smart mode are not caused by Safe circle but bad RC GPS. This is a urbal legend. Inside Safe circle it will not start and it will not come nearer to you (or more exact to the GPS position of the RC) but well not move away suddenly. Bad position recognition of both, drone and RC are source of unexpected behaviour of the drone.
4) Avoid Smart mode. It is much better to leard to fly in Angle mode. Smart mode is good for automated modes like Follow me, Watch me. You must have a good GPS position at ST16.
5) Turle mode is for cinematic flight mode. Tho have full power (rabbit mode) is better to avoid obstacles, start and landing the drone. You have simply more control of the the drone.

Pre-flight check ST16:
HW Monitor: All stick centered and react normal?
All switches in upper position except Flight mode switch in middle position (Angle mode) and landing gear switch in lower position (gear down)?
Both slider (left/right) in upper position?

Pre-flight check drone:
All propeller tight?
Battery properly plugged in and locked?

No, different one, lol. My husband wanted to fly. So I told him to take the one I knew was working correctly. The H is the one we were taking about the other day. My new one I got. 😇 And the new one is not going up until I read more on it.

Sorry just getting used to posting stuff in correct threads. I was just ranting about my self. Wishing I would learn to check stuff.

Thanks for your fast reply. I’m pretty good at flying it. But your info did point out a couple things I didn’t know.
