I was lucky enough to be invited to Enrico's Kopterbude (Drohnen) again. We had a good time.
What wasn't so good was that we found three new bugs in Typhoon H. The three bugs relate to the acquiring problem. The drone cannot be started even when GPS is switched off.
A reasonable diagnosis is possible with the alternative H480 GUI reading the text messages on page System/Settings.
1. “AHRS Not Ready” – this is due to the IMU; the error moves with the IMU. The affected IMU is junk.
2. “EKF Require First Boot Initialization” – this is due to the MCU board. Even a functioning IMU or FW downgrade/upgrade does not change anything. However, the IMU itself usually works.
3. “IMU no temperature calibration data” – this is due to the MCU board. Even a functioning IMU or FW downgrade/upgrade does not change anything.

Bugs are the same on different systems (and in different countries, DE and CH ;)).

No clue how to repair so far.

Is it possible the IMU does not require temperature calibration and the check for data is a firmware relic from earlier models?

Whatever it is it prevents motors from start. Even with switched off GPS the drone cannot be armed. Drone remains in "Aquiring" status.
I purchased 10 new flight controllers from Yuneec. Four of them work perfectly, but six of them exhibit this strange behavior... including the one Helmut took with him. However, I'm not giving up yet.

Do calibration some times without powering the drone off. Every time the GPS lock after the callibration will be longer.
The callibration gives small difference in constants every time. Not enough to do the goal from the first time but with some repetitions (10, 20, more) you will get a satisfied result.

Of course, before starting the procedure let the drone to get enough number of satellites.

I'll try that... Thanks for the tip!
The ST-16, like the drone itself, displays 14-16 satellites.
