A question re FPV Goggles

I am hovering on the buy button for the H. I was wondering though if somebody could give me a quick explanation of how FPV goggles connect. I am completely new to this so do not know if all I need to do is to connect via HDMI or if there is more to it than this. As I see some models with antennae fitted to the goggles and I have no idea why.
While we are at it are there any recommended goggles for the H

Edit: One other thing, I primarily want to shoot stills, is there much distortion from such a wide lens. It would be nice if there were different lens or camera options in the pipeline?

Is the usb from the controller fast enough to provide HD video out to goggles? Is the lag comparable to the hdmi? You said yes, and or wireless to "all goggles have usb cables but neither my fat sharks or headplays use usb, do the newer goggles coming out support it? I've never used usb but I'd like to try it to compare the signal quality. The Headplays are so huge you can feel self conscious wearing them in public
