Auto landing issues - crash

Had my Breeze for two months and it has crashed twice while auto landing. I manually bring it down to about 5ft give or take and start the landing. Half way through landing the motors stop like it already landed. The first time it happen I was at the beach and the sand gave it a soft landing. The second time I wasn't so lucky and it cracked the sensor glass. Has anyone experienced this?

The IR sensor can get fooled by near white surfaces on hot days, you will be close but not quite on the ground and it thinks you have landed. The beach landing,if in the hot sun, would qualify as such. I suspect the other may have been over light colored concrete. I have had circumstances where mine landed a little hard, but never shut off while still in the air. Your Breeze may have a flaky IRS.

It is not a pilot error and you would be advised to contact Yuneec to get a new bottom cover under warranty and possibly replacing the IRS.

@DoomMeister thank you for the response. Both times I was on a light colored surface, where all my other flights I did not have any issues and landings were perfect. I'll definitely be replacing the bottom cover before flying again. I'll bring a small colored mat next time I'm on a light landing surface, do a few test and work from there. Thanks again.

You are welcome. It is a shame that many idiosyncrasies of the Breeze seem to get found out the hard way, but it is not the only product that rings true for.

I see that you are new to the forum. I’ll take this opportunity to welcome you. The following is my standard welcome message and saves me writing a new message for each new member.
