Hi
I'm new to drones and just purchased a Q500. Just read about the coming
Canadian drone regulations. I realize drones need regulating but it seems a little extreme to me. Any thoughts?

I have two issues with the proposed rules.
1- All operators who fly a drone that weighs more than 250 g for any purpose will need to be insured through a liability insurance provider for at least $100,000.

In Canada you cannot buy liability insurance for a UAV unless you are a commercial operator.

2- Very small drone and limited operations categories: Mark your drone with basic owner information (name, address, contact information)

This goes against the canadian privacy act and there is no way I am going to have my home address on any UAV for some idiot to find. I have filed a complaint with the privacy act board and has many others. Not sure when our case will be heard.

I have no problem with the Knowledge test and pilot permit. I think every pilot should have a good understanding of the rule and regulations and how to fly safely.
