Hi guys,
I own an H520G (Gov Edition) from 3DR. It's basically an H520 but with an ST10C remote and an iPad. It runs on SiteScan iOS app but it's pretty terrible and I need to run QGroundControl iOS app instead. While using SiteScan app, the iPad connects via lightning USB cable to the remote, and I get about 0.5 mi range. When I asked 3DR for support to run QGC, they advised me to connect the iPad to the E90 camera WiFi. This way the iPad cannot use the remote's long range antennas and it limits the range to only about 100ft. I'm thinking of running a mobile WiFi (battery powered) repeater to boost my WiFi range.
Can anyone help me understand the technicalities of WiFi or how this system uses it in order to achieve longer range with this setup? I've tried reading up online but found nothing really helpful. Thank you.
