Intel's increasing ties to the drone industry

We know Intel's RealSense is part of the Yuneec Pro. Now it seems that a new Intel acquisition is involved in DJI's Object Avoidance system. Intel is even producing their own high-end drone. Interesting information here.

I worked there for two years back in the 80's. Intel KNOWS where to look for and how to spot growth markets. Nowadays, there's not much growth in desktop PC's. "Drones" however, is a completely different kettle of fish!

As for now, as the article indicates, Intel appears to be going in all directions at the same time. Unusual, even confusing from the outside looking in.

Their main thrust, though, is toward autonomous drone development. That is, drones that can fly themselves from point to point, avoiding obstacles as they go. Robots of the air. This is huge, this is the future.
