I'm a die hard Q500 4K fan mainly because of it's lift capability. I'd gotten mixed results with their flight time. I finally discovered why. Let me know, if anyone else is still flying Q500s. When I charged a very warm battery, I found out that the factory charger would indicate FULL but not really be full resulting in very short flights of 5 to 10 minutes. Charging same battery but in a cold state would give a normal 25 to 30 minutes. These are the big Lithiums on Q500s. Could it be a factory safety factor or just the nature of the beast? Does this affect other drone types? Thanks!

Lithium batteries should always be room temp when charging. Allowing them to cool may affect the internal chemistry of the battery. In any case, your experience is the same that other people have reported. So allow them to cool before charging.

My rules:
- never charge over 4.2V - to avoid fire in the house
- never discharge below 3.3V - to avoid dead battery/cells
- never charge warm batteries - to avoid early aging
- never store full batteries - to avoid swollen battery packs

This is not really exact - these are rules of thumb.
