Dear Part 107 Aeronautical Knowledge Test Unmanned Aircraft General (UAG) Applicant,

Pre-registration with CATS is now open. You may access the Pre-Registration Application atCATS | Pre-register for Part 107 Aeronautical Knowledge Test.

The $150.00 test fee will be collected during the pre-registration process. Once you pre-register, CATS will work to secure your testing appointment at your preferred location and date. Once your appointment is secured, we will send you an email confirmation within 10 business days with all information you’ll need to successfully prepare for your test day. If your preferred location or date is not available, a member of the CATS Registration Team will contact you to secure an acceptable alternate appointment.

Please note that the following Federal Aviation Administration list of Airman Knowledge Testing Centers, http://www.faa.gov/training_testing/testing/media/test_centers.pdf, was updated on December 3rd, 2015. Since then, there have been changes to the list of available testing centers. Further, the list contains both CATS and PSI Testing Centers. Pre-registration through this application only shows CATS Testing Centers. CATS Testing Centers can be identified with “Site ID” codes that begin with ABS.

CATS does not provide test preparation materials and has no comment on test preparation products. However, you may refer to the following Federal Aviation Administration UAS Testing Information and Sample UAG Exam here: http://www.faa.gov/training_testing/testing/test_questions/media/uag_sample_exam.pdf.

Also, please refer to the Federal Aviation Administration UAS Frequently Asked Questions here: Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Frequently Asked Questions/Help.

For further information, please refer to:

· The Federal Aviation Administration Summary of Small Unmanned Aircraft Rule (Part 107) information: http://www.faa.gov/uas/media/Part_107_Summary.pdf

· The Federal Aviation Administration Small UAS Rule (Part 107) landing page: www.faa.gov/uas.

All FAA tests are at least that much. Sometimes MUCH more. That's the lowest price I know of for one.

Why use a 3DR party entity to take an FAA test. You can schedule the test directly with the FAA center nearest you to my understanding.

There are no "FAA centers" so to speak. There are FSDOs (Flight Standards District Offices), but they offer no written tests. Unfortunately, you have to use a 3rd party testing center. Not just for this test, but any of the FAA writtens.
