Review: Zephyr’s drone simulator is a great if pricey way to improve your flying skills

Strongly disagree... since this simulator is

A) more model specific than the Yuneec's UAV Pilot Simulator... the Zephyr supports the Typhoon H... Yuneec's UAV Pilot supports both the Typhoon H as well as any Q500 model.

B) 2 to 3 times as expensive... $99 program only, $139 bundled with a generic controller... vs. $39 for a USB dongle to use UAV Pilot... program is free at:

UAV Pilot Simulator

C) Forces you to use a generic controller... UAV Pilot uses native Yuneec controllers... the ST-10 in the case of the Q, the ST-16 in the case of the Typhoon H. There is no better "simulation" than using the same controller you fly with.

You can use this program with the ST-10 and ST-16 and have all controls except for camera since you are not hooked up to an aircraft during use. Unfortunately only available for Windows. But the best part is you can use this simulator and run it in GPS off mode... with NO risk to your bird. That part of the video (6:28) is linked here:

This link is how to disable GPS in the simulator

One other aspect in the GPS off mode, is the ability to preset the amount of wind present, and from what direction... cause you'll never lose GPS in dead calm conditions.

What I will concede is that if the pilot is a Mac only person, the UAV Pilot simulator is Windows only, so alternative programs would need to be looked at, including the Zephyr.
