ST16 Versus ST16S.

So, whats the difference between these two ST16s???

The S apparently has a faster processor as well as a full size USB socket for a mobile data dongle. It doesn't run the same software as the H and current information is that the two controllers cannot be switched between the Typhoon H and the H520.

It makes sense though, with the more advanced software they need a more powerful controller to run it all.

Can the newer cameras be connected to the older ST16?
eg. dual operator, ST16S connected to the H520 for piloting the bird, and the older ST16 connected to the camera for cam control.

I *think* from what we've been told that the H Plus camera will be running different firmware from the H520 equivalent. So it's pretty unlikely the H Plus controller will be able to dual operator the H520 camera (if you see what I mean). The suggestion is that the H Plus camera firmware will be compatible with the old Typhoon H, so it may support dual operator - but the ST-16 that comes with the H Plus has different software from both the H-520 controller and the Typhoon H, so it may not have a 'dual operator' function built in. You may be able to dual operator the new camera for the Typhoon H and H Plus with an old ST-16 running the Typhoon H flight stack.

In other words... there are a few different combinations of controller and camera, and there's no evidence yet which will work and which wont.

Ok then ST16s for H-520 and ST16s for H+ is not the same firmware ? vow how is it possible to diferentiate them ?
But good news according to what you say @Tuna is that with an H+ it might be possible to run the original ST16s and an old ST16 from H

To your first question - yes. The H+ has a new flight app (looks good).

ST-16 (For Typhoon H) - The app you see when you start the controller is called FlightMode.
ST-16S (For H520) - The app is called DataPilot
ST016S (For H+) - Entirely new app (not sure of name).

The H520 itself runs flight controller firmware very closely based on the PX4 stack (so DataPilot is a PX4 compatible-ish app)
The Typhoon H runs a custom flight controller firmware (very similar capabilities to the old 3DR flight stack)

- That means that the controller for the H520 is not compatible with the controller for the Typhoon H (different protocols). This is intentional from Yuneec, as the H520 is meant as a commercial offering.

It's not clear (to me, yet!) what flight controller software the Plus will run - it looks like they're going to use a evolution of the Typhoon H firmware. This continues the idea that the H Plus is a consumer model. You won't be able to get H520 like features on the H Plus.
