Hi I'm new to the Forum my name is Peter can anyone help me please I took out my St 16 and noticed the tilt mode toggle switch has snapped off has anyone had same problem and is it easy to repair and where do you get the switch from and name of it and if link to follow to replace it.

Hope you can help

Peter

This usually only happens when the ST-16 is dropped or something is dropped on the ST-16 or leverages the switch. The switch is not difficult to replace but it is not “easy”.

Ok thank you for your reply do you know where I can get a replacement and procedure on how to do it.i must of put st 16 back in case to quick why it snapped

Thanks

Peter

Some in this forum have done this repair so perhaps they will provide their input to assist.

Yuneec sells both the left and right switch boards. They state warranty only but I’ve called and they have sent them to me. It’s an easy repair. Just be careful opening the ST when separating the two halves for connecting wires for fans and power. The new switch boards have better toggles in my opinion. Never put a wrench or pliers on the mounting collars when tightening. That can actually pull the toggle out of the switch body. Finger tight is good enough and you just have to stay on them after that.
You’d think the cost of proper mounting nuts and washers would be cheaper then switch boards but Yuneec opted on looks and plastic so it’s a constant annoyance the way the collars loosen. Checking all my switches for proper tightness to ST frame is now routine part of pre flight and I’ve got spare boards now from slowly upgrading all my STs to the new better boards.

Thank you I sent email to yuneec and now have purchased the complete switch board as been told easy to burn plastic housing with soldering one switch.

I replaced both left and right switch boards on one of my controllers. Yep, I was a clumsy carp one day and snapped a couple of switches. It wasn't difficult to replace the switch boards but a bit tedious as it was my first time opening up the ST16 and I didn't want to screw anything up.

The switchboard are simple plugins. No soldering required. As already mentioned, don't get heavy handed tightening up the switch collars.

I used this repair video as a reference since it went through opening up the ST16 case and then putting it back together.

Since I had it open I did take the extra step of upgrading the antennas as in the video so that the ST16 became a ST16+. I got the antenna kit from Terrestrial Imaging.

When you folks install the outer locking collar on the switch the application of a little blue, medium thread lock compound will go a long way in retaining that collar for a very long time.
