Typhoon H 480 PX4 v1.10 (Stability issues ;-)

But you can trust me or not... A lot of things was be done if people just do, doesn't matter if they're understanding why.

100% sure... ST16 has a protection related to this.

hmmm. I thought I had it working with a made up SSID and the ST16, but was also playing with an ST10 at the time so maybe that is what I'm remembering and my emulator never worked with the ST16

Thunderbird FW was a one-man show of Pöllö from Finland. He did the necessary parts of the FW to get it fly, no more. Now he is doing other things and disappeared from this forum.
Unfortunately no other developer of the community is interested in to continue the project. PX4 supports a lot of sensors, RealSense. LIDAR and so on, but it needs developer. Typhoon H is a niche product with little recognition in the PX4 community and is also relatively old. It is near the Intel Aero which was abandoned by Intel a long time ago.

I do not expect that we get something more as we have today. I found some problems in FW "Thunderbird_170521_CD". I think it is better to use still "Thunderbird_030420_CD".

I'm still here. :)

Had just a lot of more things to do in my life beyond drones, in a positive way. Still a bit busy with other things, but if you still need help with the FW, please drop a line here and I'll see what I can do. :)
The following weeks will be busy for me but I'll respond when I have a possibility to do so. :)

As time goes by, the Typhoon gets older too, becoming more and more difficult to get, including all the spare parts of it. Couple years ago (man the time flies..) I started drawing my own custom 3d-printed foldable hexacopter frame that resembled Typhoon a lot, using either/both custom 3d-printed or Typhoon parts. It is still in the works, waiting for me to finish it, and that could be something to continue Typhoon/Thunderbird's "legacy" here if you are interested. Modern high-efficiency motor controllers, a modern PX4 autopilot, modern telemetry and digital video link, a high quality Raspberry Pi camera on a gimbal with C-mount lenses... a true open source successor for the TH / TB would be indeed possible if we want to do it. :)

Welcome back. I'm so glad to hear from you.

The Thunderbird project is in sleep mode also from my side. Since Yuneec has dropped service for us I focused on reuse RC and cameras for other projects. Also tried to build some gimbal calibration tools and a new Typhoon H GUI (I want this stuff for LINUX OS too not only for Windows). In this context the communication protocol between SR24 and Autopilot and Autopilot to Gimbal/camera is well documented. For gimbal control (tilt, tilt mode, pan, pan mode) I added an ESP32 that converts messages from ST16 to gimbal. This problem is solved for me. With this add-on Thunderbird has now full control of the gimbal. I also tested it with the CGO-ET from H520. This gives us more compatibility with other cameras than CGO3+.

I would propose two changes:

BARO Altitude instead of GPS altitude in /src/drivers/rc_input/RCInput.cpp
Correction typo FlightMode Number for Stability in telementry in /src/drivers/rc_input/RCInput.cpp

My C++ skills are very low and I have a huge lack of understanding concept of the PX4 source. I hope that has no side effects.

What I understand is marked with // HE: in the attached file. For Baro height there may be more to do...

Welcome back.

Could you share your insights for building the firmware. I've had zero luck in building it.
