Hello.

I'm a drone/Q500 n00b. I've come to talk batteries.

Yes, I did do a forum search before posting.

I ordered two OEM batteries from eBay. Both batteries are duds. One battery gives me a steady red light on the charger ("error") and the other doesn't appear to register at all because when connected to the charger I get a blinking green light.

With OEM batteries costing $80-$130 per battery, I'm looking at the aftermarket batteries like the GIFI. The GIFI has more mAH than the OEM and costs about the same, maybe less.

I'm also kind of concerned. Are batteries an issue with the Q500? I bought the Q500 versus going with a newer (read: still supported by the manufacturer) drone because the Q500 4K was only $350 and includes a nice controller with a built-in display versus other controllers that require the use of your phone or a tablet for the display to work.

Thank you. :)

Aftermarket batteries are the way to go IMO.
Gifi works fine too.
Do you have a cell/voltage checker ?
The green light on the charger may be telling you it's full.
Good luck and happy flying.

By my opinion you need to check internal resistance of the battery to see the health..

You can try to find how resistance reflects to lipo batteries..
